Iraqi parliamentarian Alia Nassif warned of Khawr Abdullah Agreement concluded between the Iraqi government and its Kuwaiti counterpart, saying that the agreement strongly harms the interests of the Iraqi government. Meanwhile, sources inside Mousl revealed that the leaders of ISIS turned to escape from the city after the consecutive losses from which they suffered.
According to military sources, ISIS leaders gave orders to the elements of the extremist to leave their weapons to escape from the city towards the borders with Syria. The development came after the killing of a large number of extremists in the city during the recent period.
The sources revealed that the bodies of ISIS elements are existed in the streets of the city, adding that the security forces managed to arrest a large number of the group’s elements disguised in women clothes to escape from the city, while the residents informed the Iraqi authorities about them.
Twelve Islamic State militants were killed as Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units) encountered on Monday an attack by the group against Talet Hassani region, west of Mosul.
“The fourth brigade troops encountered an attack launched by IS fighters against Talet Hassani, western Mosul,” al-Hashd media service said in a statement. “12 ISIS members were killed as the troops repelled the attack.”
In related news, al-Hashd downed a drone guided by IS in the western side of the city. “Troops of the 26th brigade were able to down a drone through which the militants were trying to scout out the freed city of Badush, west of Mosul,” the service said.
“The unmanned plane was trying to scout for the troops in Badush to check their capabilities and presence,” it added. The statement revealed that “the brigade developed its drones to be used in the battles in western Mosul,” adding that “the troops possess devices that will shock the enemy in the upcoming battle.”
Al-Hashd forces, supported by Iraqi forces, had previously freed Badush region from IS mid March. Meanwhile, the troops received more than 60 displaced families from al-Hadar region.
“Over 60 displaced families escaped IS in the west of Mosul,” the service said. “The troops offered medical assistance and food before distributing them among freed villages along with residents of Tal Abta, Tal Fares and Midan Qulli villages.”
On the other hand, Iraqi government called for taking serious actions to contain the current security situation in Deyali Province. According to a statement, the prime minister followed the reports over the recent developments witnessed in the province calling the security and military forces to contain the current deteriorated situation in the province.
Prime Minister Haider Abadi said that the residents of the province should cooperate with the security leaders to keep the security of their province and to eliminate the extremist groups existed there. He praised the efforts exerted by the security forces to protect the city after the arrest of a large number of the extremist elements.
