Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh
Gaza – Mohammed Habib
Palestinian Prime Minister in Gaza Ismail Haniyeh said that the enemy’s strategy in Gaza failed and that Palestinians will not surrender to the siege on Gaza .
During a Hamas reception on Tuesday afternoon, Haniyeh revealed that the Gazans will 'have a surprise' next week,
but did not reveal anything else. He repeated himself on the importance of a united Palestine and a national reconciliation.
Haniyeh said Hamas is still working on setting the Palestinian land and people free. He explained that the government in Gaza is not an independent entity but is a first step to the full liberation of Palestine.
The leader said that Hamas was not a finality, but the mean to gain freedom, to free detainees and bring back the refugees to the country. He added the members of Hamas are not using the party for their own profit as it has been suggested by their detractors.
He added that his government was subject to a triple war. A political war where the election results were not recognised, an economic war within the cruel siege and a destructive war with Israel.
Haniyeh honoured the governmental leaders during the ceremony in Gaza, with the participation of his deputy Ahmad Bahr and the Qatari delegation supervising Gaza’s reconstrution project led by Qatari Ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi.
Ahmad Bahr urged Egypt to open the Rafah crossing once and for all in order to support Gaza. He said he was confident that the Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will support the Palestinian people and end the siege.
He called Egypt to pressure the occupation to respect their agreement, especially about the release of detainees. He asked the Arab and Islamic nations to support the Palestinian people and their cause.
Bahr asked the government to continue the efforts on unemployment and poverty. He also thanked Qatar for their financial aid, which he considered a clear proof that the Palestinian people are not alone in the battle and that they are supported by another Arab nation.
