2 Israeli soldiers stand in front of Shalit
Gaza - Mohammed Habib
Hamas sources confirmed to ‘Arabstoday’ that new developments have arose regarding the Israeli Soldier, Gilad Shalit’s deal.
The sources confirmed the arrival of a German envoy to Cairo to hold talks
with a number of security officials in Egypt in order to activate the stalled prisoner exchange deal.
They have also indicated an Egyptian move to push towards a progress in the prisoner exchange deal, stressing that the release of Shalit, depends on Benjamin Natanyahu, who is considered to be responsible for the delay.
The expected deal states the release of the Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, captured in Gaza, in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli prisons.
This comes after handing over the Israeli spy, Ejrabik Ilan, now jailed in Egypt, to Leon Panetta, U.S. Secretary of Defense during his visit to Egypt, according to media reports.
Hamas movement has accused the Israeli Prime, Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, of stalling Shalit’s deal, after it reached a very advanced stage during Olmert’ period.
‘Israel Radio’ quoted Sheikh, Hassan Yousef, a Hamas leader saying that Israeli negotiators held long group meetings with political and military leaders to discuss Shalit’s deal. Sheikh Hassan has also described Netanyahu’s accusation of Hamas being the reason in delaying the deal as ‘false’.
Leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" Khalil al-Hayya called the Palestinian resistance factions to kidnap more Israeli soldiers in order to liberate more Palestinian prisoners, who are currently engaged in a hunger strike; to reflect on their rejection to the bad treatment they witness during their jail period.
Khalil Al-Hayya, said in a TV channel that: "It is time when everyone realizes that our prisoners could only be released by resistance,” he added: "We are committed to our demands, and our resistance, the only option we have is to escalate our resistance , and kidnap more settlers and soldiers in order to free our prisoners.”
According to analysis obtained by ‘Arabstoday’, analysts said that Shalalit’s deal depends on the Israeli acceptance to the resistance demands.
