Director General of People of Mousl Community Abdel Kareem Al Ebeidy revealed the killing of 3864 civilians since the launch of military operations on the city’s right bank, saying that this number has been reported by the survivors and escapees. He stressed the need for giving orders to suspend the bombardment of the residential areas and sending medical detachments to lift the residents from under the rubble and to treat the injured people.
He added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, “The residents of Mousl suffer from murder, hunger and poverty, while the parliamentarians of Nineveh ignore them.” He also criticized the performance of local government, while accused the central government of negligence. He blamed the increasing use of heavy weapons, including the tanks and missiles, for the increasing damages from which the residents suffer.
He stressed that the governmental troops destroyed the city’s infrastructure that are possessed by the Iraqi people, adding that they also target residential areas leading to increasing losses among the Iraqi civilians due to increasing bombardment and the excessive use of artillery and missiles.
He added that the current image of the residential areas with the demolished buildings gives negative impression over the performance of the government and its failure to save the innocent people and to lift the dead bodies from under the rubble. He called the country’s leaders for bearing the ethical and humanitarian responsibility towards the citizens.
He called the Iraqi government and leaders of International Coalition for reviewing their approach in dealing with the residential areas. He added that they should adopt the successful approach adopted by the Iraqi forces and International Coalition to liberate the city’s left bank. He added that the troops should take into account the presence of 400 thousand Iraqis living in the areas of conflict, saying that 3864 civilians have been killed during the military operations since the launch of military operations to liberate the right bank of Iraq’s second largest city.
He added, “When the military operations started to liberate the city’s left bank, the residents turned to transfer to the right bank. However, the current challenge facing the Iraqi troops is the large number of civilians existed in the right bank of Mousl. The families started to leave the areas of conflict, while the preparations for receiving those displaced people are not enough.
He underlined the importance of the parliamentary role to contain the crisis, saying that the committee follows the developments to refer the formal reports to the parliament, including the basic needs of the displaced people. He stressed the need for a serious role for the government and other international organizations to perform a role to help the displaced people.
