Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed his country’s keenness to work with Jordan to support the coming Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Amman this month, saying, “We aspire to more cooperation over the different Arab issues during the coming period.”
The statement came during the press conference between the Egyptian official and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Al Safadi on Thursday.
Shoukry added that Egypt resumes its efforts to resolve the Libya crisis, stressing that the Egyptian government works to contact with the Libyan conflicting parties. He added that they work currently to form a special committee to amend the political agreement, stressing that the country works to support the political solution to protect the Libyan people.
He said that the Egyptian government is keen to cooperate with NATO, saying that the cooperation with the western alliance aims to ensure the regional stability and to support the interests of Egypt and the Arab region as whole.
On the other hand, Safadi said that the Jordanian government appreciates the role performed by Egypt to confront the different challenges facing the Arab world, stressing his support for the Egyptian role in the region. He added that they discussed the ways of cooperation to face the challenged in the framework of good relations gathering between the two countries.
He added, “We have been committed to the fight against terrorism and work to find a peaceful solution for the Syrian crisis.” He stressed that the political solution is necessary to suspend the current bloodshed witnessed in Syria.
He underlined the importance of the Arab Summit scheduled to be held in Amman this month, saying that the Arab world faces serious challenges during the current period. He added that the Arab countries have no other choice except to work together to resolve the current problems. He added that his country works currently to bridge the gap of differences to pave the way for discussing the crises during the summit.
