Fighters from the opposition-aligned Amal movement
The media office for the Lebanese resistance, Amal Movement, has denied the reports made by a Lebanese newspaper concerning Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his two companions stating: “All that has come into this
report has nothing to do with reality and is completely and utterly untrue.”
The Head of the Committee in charge of following up the case of Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his companions, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Prof. Adnan Mansour, issued another statement saying: “Some media outlets have circulated news about what proceeded during a hearing by the committee for the follow up of Imam Al-Sadr and his companions’ case which is not correct.”
Amal media office pointed out that the Imam Al-Sadr case is followed by the concerned committee and the Lebanese delegation’s visit to Mauritania was a step forward, especially as Abdullah Al-Senousi was turned in to Libyan authorities.
Mansour said: “The Head of the Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates is careful to stress the falsity of all that is published about the proceedings of the Senousi hearing and urges media outlets to seek accuracy and avoid reliance on any predictions or analysis away from truth and reality.”
“The committee will continue its communications with concerned authorities in a frame of secrecy” Mansour also added, “With extreme care that the content of communications and information remains outside of media circulation.”
Al-Diyar newspaper had referred to the arrest of Libyan Intelligence Chief Brigadier, General Abdullah Al-Senousi, in Mauritania and his extradition to Libya. The newspaper claimed that Berri referred to information obtained by former Libyan Intelligence Chief about who killed Imam Musa Al-Sadr and his companions in addition to the whereabouts of their bodies. The newspaper also stated that Senousi had kept the passports of Imam Sadr and his companions. Al-Diyar reported confusion about the method of declaring the news in Beirut and who would declare it, about the Shiite public reaction at the announcement and how to stabilise the situation from Bekaa to Beirut.
