Chairperson of Tunisian Nahda Movement Rashed Al Ghanoushi revealed that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika refused to put Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group, saying that the proposal has been presented by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi during his visit to Algeria.
Ghanoushi stressed that the Egyptian group performed a major role in supporting the Algerian authorities for countering extremism, saying that they have over 500 victims of their Islamist leaders.
Algeria was one of the major players that performed notable role not to allow Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to pass an article to list Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group. Algerian Parliamentarian Nasser Hamdadosh stressed that the Algerian parliament strongly opposes the Egyptian request in this regard.
