The Arab Coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, renewed its airstrikes against Houthi targets in the Nihm district on the eastern outskirts of the Yemeni capital Sanaa, in conjunction with the continued fighting in Taiz province. The Arab Coalition warplanes shelled several sites and hotspots of Houthi militants in Nihm and Sirwah districts in the capital Sanaa, with no reports of knowing the number of casualties so far.
Local sources said that Nihm and Sirwah districts witness fierce battles between the Houthis and Yemeni pro-government popular resistance, adding that the resistance forces withdrew from some sites before the Arab Coalition carried out a number of air raids. The sources revealed that about the clashes between the rebels and resistance forces left 14 dead and wounded from the two sides amid exchange of bombardment since Friday.
The port city of Makha on the Red Sea coast has witnessed armed clashes between the rebels and the forces loyal to President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi, while Yemeni military sources reported that the Yemeni army took control of a number of sites in front of Nar Mountain and the fighting extended to the outskirts of Khokha city, the entrance of Hodyidah coastal province.
Yemen has been witnessing civil war for nearly two years between government troops backed by the Arab coalition, led by Saudi Arabia, and the Houthi rebels, who seize power since 21 September 2014, after a military coup against the government of President Hadi.
