Algeria's defense ministry said in a statement that the Algerian army managed to arrest two extremists in Tebessa province, and destroyed four hideouts in the province as well as four land mines Skikda province.
According to the statement, the army has identified the nine extremists who were killed in Tizi Ouzou, east of the country. The military forces also seized a number of firearms and ammunition.
The killed extremists were former members in criminal groups during the period from 1994 until 2010.
The nine extremists included Isaac, who had joined extremist groups in 1994; Belkacem called "Suraqa" who joined extremist groups in 2006; Sayed Ali called "Abu Amir" who had joined extremist groups in 2010; Abdul Rahim; Qatada; Abdul Khaliq; Samir called "Aqlasear" Ibrahim called "Abdel Wahed”; Salim called "Abdel Nasser."
