Royal Air Maroc to Start Pilgrimage Flights August 8

Morocco’s flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), will start carrying a total of 20,000 passengers to Saudi Arabia for the 2017 Hajj season on August 8, corresponding to the Islamic month Dhu al-Qaidah 15, 1438.

The airline will devote 150 flights for pilgrimage during this season, taking off from eight national airports, including Casablanca, Rabat-Sale, Fez, and Tangier, according to a press release by RAM

The airline will schedule 77 flights for the outward phase for Jeddah and Medina. RAM is planning to increase its transport capacity by devoting two Airbuses, namely an A.330 and A.340 with capacities of 266 and 300 seats, to the Hajj flights.

Pilgrims from the Dakhla, Laayoune, Errachidia, Ouarzazate and Tinghir regions, who represent 1000 passenger, will be transported to Agadir’s airport, Al Massira, and Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport by B.737 flights before departing to the holy pilgrimage site.

“In order to make the operation of the Hajj a successful action like every year, Royal Air Maroc has strengthened all its operational tools to ensure that pilgrims transport will be carried out under the best possible conditions of safety,” the airline said in the statement.

The company added that it has expanded the teams assigned to this operation, especially at the Moroccan and Saudi airports.

Royal Air Maroc has also consolidated its teams in Mecca, Jeddah, and Medina to assist Moroccan pilgrims and facilitate their transport procedures.
