Debris was found off Vietnam of the aircraft that went missing while looking for another crashed fighter jet's pilot, officials said Friday.
Rescue workers found seats and personal effects thought to be from the maritime patrol aircraft, officials of the National Committee for Search and Rescue said.
The Airbus Defence CASA C-212 was searching the sea near Bach Long Vi Island in the Gulf of Tonkin with nine people on board, including three crew, the Committee said.
China sent one vessel Friday morning to help the search on Vietnam's request, as the Chief of General Staff, Pham Van Giang, ordered the 1,000 military and civilian personnel to step up the search effort.
The plane was searching for one of two pilots who ejected from their Russian-built Su30-MK2 fighter before it crashed at sea Tuesday during training, Nguyen Viet Hoa of the National Committee for Search and Rescue told the German News Agency (dpa).
