'Sarona' follows German soldier, Jewish woman in secret love affair during WWII

World War II, as the name implies, is often hailed as one of the largest and most devastating conflicts in mankind’s history, resulting in 72-million deaths worldwide. While many books and movies have covered the primary conflict in Germany, few have covered the conflict and tensions felt from World War II in Palestine. Author Helmut Glenk invites readers to travel to 1930s Palestine in his new novel, “Sarona” (published by Trafford Publishing), which will be featured at the 2014 Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany.
Eighteen-year-old Erich lives in Sarona, a German community outside of Tel Aviv, Palestine. On one of his routine trips to Tel Aviv, Erich meets Ruth, a Jewish girl. Despite growing tensions between the Germans and Jews, the two fall in love. Their bliss is short-lived however, when Erich is called to the German military. With Erich facing dangers on the battlefield, Ruth is left alone in Tel Aviv, a city of heightening conflict nearing its breaking point.
“Sarona” follows Erich and Ruth as the two embark on a path that may cost them their lives. Spanning an entire lifetime, “Sarona” promises excitement, romance and drama as Eric and Ruth face death, adversity and the biggest conflict the world has ever known.
