Egypt's only art house cinema is launching "Documenting Cairo on Film", a three-day film program that puts together a selection of documentary films which focus on less well-known aspects of life in Cairo.
"Each film focuses on a set of characters or particular places shedding light on often overlooked communities, ways of life, urban complexities and social networks," Zawya announced on their Facebook page.
Cairobserver is a project launched by Mohamed El-Shahed. It aims to "start a conversation about Cairo’s architecture and buildings, urban fabric and city life."
Cairobserver operates a blog and has also published a number of print issues, featuring a range of journalists, architects, historians and residents of Cairo.
The collaboration aims at bringing residents of the city to view and also discuss the issues put forth by the selected films.
