Ghadeer Jaber, first Emirati paediatric surgeon in the country and holder of German Board in Paediatrics, illustrates her passion to serve humanity by curing children through a short film that will be broadcast on the U.A.E. Government YouTube channel — www.youtube.com/uaegov.
"Children constitute a large segment of the U.A.E. society, yet there are not many specialised paediatric surgeons in the country. I, therefore, felt that I should serve my country through this specialisation.” These words highlight the turning point of Jaber's life, which brought her a lot of support and encouragement from her family and relatives.
The film shows Ghadeer as a surgeon occupied in her humanitarian duty, working for long hours, and how she spends time with her family. It also highlights her moments with her colleagues at work, where she says: "The hospital is my second home… I cannot live without my current work… Surgical operations may continue for 6-8 hours and maybe more… It is painstaking and requires a lot of effort… But all the troubles vanish with the smile of a mother when you tell her: Your child is fine.”
Part of a series of films, the short film is aligned with the National Innovation Strategy, which was launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai. The strategy includes a number of sectors to focus on, of which is health and includes a number of national initiatives to encourage innovation by providing healthcare services and building national capacities in the same field.
The U.A.E. Government YouTube Channel was launched in June by Shaikh Mohammed.
The channel broadcasts several exclusive and innovative programmes, success stories and offers a number of government services. It provides a platform for the awareness campaigns of federal entities, and is considered as the official source of news from the federal government. It broadcasts an exclusive colle
ction of short films of high technical quality.
