Following this weekend, the tease can be seen in theaters around the world in December.
The film's director J.J. Abrams recently wrapped principal photography on the sequel in England.
Details of the plot remain shrouded in secrecy. What is known about the film is that it will feature the return of fan favorites Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia -- played by Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher respectively -- as well as the non-human characters R2-D2, Chewbacca and C-3P0 -- played by Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhew and Anthony Daniels.
New additions to the cast include Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita N'yongo, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac and Andy Serkis. The movie is set for release Dec. 18, 2015.
Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, the third prequel and sixth release in the blockbuster franchise, hit theaters in 2006.
