Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard star in a first teaser trailer for Macbeth.
The 38-year-old German-Irish actor and 39-year-old French actress portray Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, respectively.
The movie presents a stylized adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy of the same name. The preview sees Macbeth's ambition for power lead him down an increasingly bloody path.
Macbeth is directed Justin Kurzel (Snowtown), and co-stars Paddy Considine as Banquo, Sean Harris as Macduff, Elizabeth Debicki as Lady Macduff, Jack Reynor as Malcolm and David Thewlis as King Duncan.
Macbeth competed for the Palm d'Or at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival in May, but lost to French drama Dheepan. The movie opens in theaters in the U.K. on Oct. 2.
