Weeks after releasing one of indie rock's most anticipated albums of recent months, Beach House has announced its second album of the year.
The Baltimore-based duo, known for dark, dreamy but minimalist pop, in late August put out its first album in more than three years, "Depression Cherry."
Beach House has since been promoting the album with an extensive tour of North America and Europe, making the band one of the most in-demand acts on the independent rock circuit.
In an unexpected announcement made over Twitter, Beach House said it has recorded the band's sixth full-length album, "Thank You Lucky Stars," which will come out on October 16.
"We're very excited," the band wrote late Wednesday.
"It's an album being released the way we want. It's not a companion to 'Depression Cherry' or a surprise or b-sides."
Beach House is led by French-born vocalist and keyboardist Victoria Legrand, whose powerfully expressive, New Wave-like vocals have drawn comparison to The Cure's Robert Smith, with the music's airy texture built by guitarist Alex Scally.
