Brie Larson is reportedly in talks to star as the female lead in Kong: Skull Island.
The 25-year-old actress would join Tom Hiddleston in the King Kong prequel film. Russell Crowe is also being courted to replace Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons, who exited the project this month due to scheduling conflicts.
The movie is an origin story set on the gorilla's home island, previously depicted as a mysterious place filled with the descendants of prehistoric creatures in the 2005 film King Kong. Kong: Skull Island is directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and opens in theaters Mar. 10, 2017.
Larson is known for portraying Kate Gregson on Showtime series United States of Tara, and appeared in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, 21 Jump Street and Trainwreck. The actress is also scheduled for Brooklyn Bridge with Daniel Radcliffe and Basmati Blues with Donald Sutherland.
