Beyoncé will reportedly perform solo at the 2014 MTV Music Video Awards.
The 32-year-old singer's music video for "Drunk in Love" featuring husband Jay Z is up for Video of the Year, but a source tells the New York Daily News, "MTV wants her and they want her solo."
"Bey is going to be all over the show," the insider says. "MTV is still working everything out, but they want her to open the show with a big production, which has still not been announced." The singer would potentially perform a medley of her hits from surprise album Beyoncé (2013).
Beyoncé and Jay Z are constantly linked in the press, and are currently on their On the Run tour together. The performance may help Beyoncé to begin extricating herself from their partnership and reestablish herself as a solo artist. Divorce rumors have been flying, and sources say the marriage is strictly a "business relationship." The Daily News expects the pair to address the rumors and clarify the status of their marriage once the tour comes to a close in September.
The 2014 MTV Music Video Awards air August 24 on MTV. Beyoncé has six other nominated videos.
