The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) located in Cairo's old district of Bab al Khalq will be reopened in April, Minister of Antiquities Khaled al Anani said on Sunday.
The reopening of the MAYA is a culmination of the domestic and international efforts exerted to stand against terror acts aimed at destroying the Egyptian identity and civilization, the minister added.
For her part, Head of the Museums' Sector Ilham Salahuddin said the minister was keen on visiting the museum as he ordered the municipality's head and Cairo governor to follow up the cleaning and lighting works outside the museum.
The minister made a tour of the MIA early Sunday to get briefed on the preparations needed before its opening.
During the inspection's tour, he praised the efforts exerted to renovate the MIA. The museum had been damaged a result of a terror attack years ago.
