President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Tuesday with Chairman of General Electric (GE) Power and Water sector Steve Bolze.
The meeting was attended by Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker and US Ambassador to Egypt Stephen Beecroft.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said the talks tackled a project implemented by General Electric to generate 2.6 gigawatts of electricity in Egypt during the coming period.
The project, due to be finalized in August, will provide job opportunities for 6,000 youths and light up 1.5 million houses.
Bolze said the first phase of the project will be finalized at the end of May and will add 895 megawatts of electricity to the national electricity grid.
The meeting also tackled another project to produce 750 megawatts of electricity in less than two years.
