The Azeri capital of Baku will play host on Wednesday to the 5th News Agencies World Congress (NAWC) and the 16th General Assembly of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).
The meetings will be attended by heads and representatives of more than 100 news agencies, including the Middle East News Agency and international media experts and UN and UNESCO officials.
Azerbaijan's Embassy in Cairo said in a statement on Tuesday that the three-day congress will be held under the rubric "New Challenges of News Agencies," and offers an opportunity for probing the future of news, news agencies, challenges, chances for state-of-the-art technology, social media and innovation in news agencies as well as the training of journalists.
The conference will also discuss problems facing journalism and forms of cooperation between news agencies and social media forums, according to the statement.
