Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi discussed with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Stephen O'Brien the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
During the gathering, held in Riyadh, they touched on humanitarian aid relief offered by the United Nations (UN) and its affiliated organizations.
Hadi called on the UN to play an active role in providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the Yemeni people who are suffering from a shortage in foodstuffs, medicines and oil derivatives as a result of the barbaric war waged by the Houthi militants and pro-Saleh forces.
The Yemeni government gives high priority to the humanitarian situation, the Yemeni leader added.
He underlined that the Yemeni government has facilitated all measures required for delivering the relief aid to the Yemeni people.
For his part, O'Brien stressed that the international community is keen on offering urgent humanitarian aid, medicines and foodstuffs to the Yemeni citizens.
