Petroleum Minister Tareq el Molla met Wednesday with Director-General for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Christian Danielsson to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation.
The meeting took up ways to benefit from initiatives of the EU to support energy projects in the coming stage, the minister said in a statement.
Danielsson stressed commitment to cooperation with Egypt, noting that the country's petroleum and gas sectors are a top priority.
Talks tackled a project to establish a body to regulate activities of the gas market in Egypt and turn it into a competitive market, the statement said.
Molla and Danielsson also probed a bill on the gas market, which is currently being studied by the House of Representatives with the aim to turn Egypt into a regional energy hub.
