Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah and his accompanying delegation left here on Sunday heading for New York city to attend the UN conference on sustainable development and a summit to face violent extremism.
The Kuwaiti delegation's participation in the two events shows the Kuwaiti interest in the multilateral action to face global challenges, Kuwaiti news papers quoted Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Mansour Al Otaibi as saying.
The Kuwaiti ambassador described the Kuwaiti participation in the UN’s Sustainable Development summit, where heads of state and government of more than 150 countries are set to adopt a 17-goal agenda, as being historic and unprecedented.
The Kuwaiti emir will highlight in a speech, set for September 26, Kuwait’s conviction in the importance of collective international action, and how sustainable development is closely linked to security and human rights, according to Al Otaibi.
