Immigration and Expatriates Affairs Minister Nabila Makram had a meeting on Monday with Communications and Information Technology Minister Yasser el Qadi on issuing consular identification (CID) cards for Egyptians living abroad.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the establishment of a fund to issue CID cards to help promote Egyptian expatriates' active participation in the society.
The CID card will facilitate the issuance of official papers for Egyptian expatriates during their visit to Egypt.
Consular identification (CID) cards are issued by some governments to their citizens who are living in foreign countries.
They are not certifications of legal residence within foreign countries, so CID card holders could be legal or illegal aliens.
