Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met during his current visit to Japan with Japanese Parliament Speaker Tadamori Oshima.
The two sides discussed bilateral ties along with the developments that occurred during this year after the visit of the Japanese prime minister to Egypt in January.
The Egyptian nation appreciates Japan's support to the country, Shoukry said, pointing out to Japan's funding to several development projects in Egypt.
During the meeting, Shoukry also reviewed Egypt's success in implementing the political roadmap, said the foreign ministry spokesman.
He further said that Egypt is keen on increasing Japanese investments in light of the several investment opportunities in the country, including the Suez Canal axis development project and fields of energy and infrastructure.
He also pointed out to the government's efforts to attain security and stability and improve the investment climate.
The Japanese parliament speaker also welcomed Shoukry's visit to Japan and voiced Japan's keenness on receiving President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in the near future.
He also said that he is determined to boost cooperation ties with the elected Egyptian parliament.
The meeting also took up the repercussions of the recent terrorist attacks in France, Lebanon, Mali and other countries.
The two sides agreed that the terrorism phenomenon is considered one of the major challenges which is besetting the international community.
In this respect, Shoukry received Egypt's efforts in confronting terrorist groups, which aim to undermine the country's stability.
The Japanese parliament speaker voiced appreciation to the initiatives launched by Egypt to confront extremist thought.
He also voiced support to the role of Al Azhar in providing moderate vision which refutes the radical interpretation adopted by Daesh for Islam.
Shoukry started Saturday night an Asian tour that includes South Korea and Japan.
The visits come as part of efforts exerted to bolster relations with the two countries and to prepare for the Egyptian president's visits to Seoul and Tokyo.
