The Culture Summit 2017 Culture Summit 2017 is organised by Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
A gathering of delegations representing almost every country in the world, the event was convened at a crucial juncture in the history of this region which has been marred by a spread of violent and extremist ideology, Mohamed Al Mahmood, Chairman and MD of Abu Dhabi Media was quoted by UAE News Agency (WAM).
Societies in the region nowadays are in dire need of recovering from shocks caused by extremist movements, he stressed while describing the summit, which opened Monday, as an exceptional event.
The summit, which will run will run in Abu Dhabi until April 13, has brought together high-level participants in government, arts, philanthropy, heritage preservation, education, media, science and technology from every region of the world to discuss culture and common interests, create new collaborations, and address concrete ways in which they can address today’s societal and political challenges.
The aim of the trans-cultural event is to figure out solutions to global issues, while enhancing the stature of the UAE and Abu Dhabi in particular as a melting pot for ideas that can make a better future for humanity, WAM reported.
