The deliberation of the international conference on the role of media in spreading of civilization and serving as a crossing point, kicked off in Beirut on Monday.
Sudan is represented in the encounter by the Director General of the Sudan News Agency SUNA, Awad Jadain Mohii-Eddin, along with leaders of Arab and non-Arab news agencies and organization, as well as diplomat and experts from the Arab world and beyond.
The Lebanese Minister of Information Melhim Riachi, has pointed out in his opening remarks at the start of the conference that the traditional media was not obsolete and that the new media tend to encourage dialogue and contact, referring to the role of the word in creating events and the role of the Media in transferring the whole world into a small global village.
The head of the Lebanese national news agency ((NNA) Lura Suleiman has on her part stressed that Lebanese minister has stressed that the fact the meeting was coming under the theme of point of contact for dialogue showed that the world was living amid crisis, wars, conflicts, violence and terror.
She said the current technological leap witnessed by the world has enabled all and everybody to be able to spread and disseminate news and that the media has now changed into the language of the era and the civilization with which we could not do away.
The two day conference will discuss a number of issues top of which the question of cementing the dialogue among civilization, the religious dialogue, beside the role of the media in creating economic contact and in formulating the public opinion and in combating terrorism.
