A new traveling museum exhibition, Star Wars: Identities, will be launched at the Montreal Science Centre next year and run April 19 through September 16, 2012. In association with Lucasfilm, it will delve into the identity of characters from the films as well as human identity. The interactive experience explores Star Wars' Jedi heroes, Luke and Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Yoda, and other characters to learn the components of identity that makes us who we are. It also allows visitors to create a new Star Wars hero. The show will display 200 objects from Lucasfilm's massive collection of props, models and artwork from its archive, including Darth Vader's costume and Anakin's full-sized Podracer, covering the entire Star Wars universe from 1977 to 2005. Created by the team that mounted the Indiana Jones and the Adventure of Archaeology exhibition, and produced by Montreal's X3 Productions, the exhibition will feature behind-the-scenes materials about Star Wars and the process of developing characters. The Montreal Science Centre and a committee of scientific experts looked into forces that shape identity, including species, genes, parents, friends, occupation, values, and choices.
