A version of China's Lunar New Year program made especially for overseas Chinese will air next month, according to the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese. The federation has been sending artists to stage shows called "Embrace China" across the world since 2008. A televised version of the Embrace China gala, featuring elements of traditional Chinese culture, will reach more overseas Chinese and bring them "a feeling of home," Qiao Wei, vice chairman of the federation, said at a press conference on Monday. Qiao noted that the show will be recorded Tuesday in Beijing and aired on Jan. 27 (the fifth day of the lunar calendar) on CCTV-4 as well as nearly 200 overseas channels. Moreover, four batches of Chinese artists will be sent to 23 cities in nine countries this Lunar New Year season, Qiao added. The upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year falls on Jan. 23, 2012.
