H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of Al Qasimia University, has honoured the winners of the second edition of Arabic language competitions for Gulf countries, under the theme "We Innovate in Arabic", during a ceremony at the University Theatre in Sharjah.
The Arabic language competitions are held on an annual basis for students of the Gulf Arabic Education Office member countries. They aim to promote loyalty to the Arabic language, as one of the main tools to promote and strengthen national identity, as well as discovering early student talents and strengthening ties between talented people at all levels of the Arabic language.
Dr. Rashad Salem, Vice Chancellor of Al Qasimia University, welcomed the audience during his speech, and praised the efforts of the Ruler of Sharjah to promote the Arabic language. He cited the initiatives of the Ruler of Sharjah in establishing Arabic language academies and holding various educational competitions.
Dr. Issa Saleh Al Hammadi, Director of the Arabic Language Education Centre for the Gulf States, the organiser of competition, said in his speech that Allah Almighty pledged to preserve the Arabic language. He praised the Gulf leaders' plans to develop and enrich Arabic language for future generations, with a view to promote the Gulf identity. Al Hammadi referred to the efforts of Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi, mostly importantly his establishment of the Arabic Language Educational Centre.
Obaid Hamed Al Dhafiri, Head of the Kuwaiti delegation, praised the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi of this important event, which aims to promote the Arabic language for future generations. He congratulated the winning students and urged them to maintain their knowledge of the Arabic language.
H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi honoured the participating delegations and authorities, as well as winners of the competitions.
