An attempt to smuggle rare books, manuscripts was thwarted by customs authorities of EgyptAir on Monday.
The seized items were found by the authorities in a Doha-bound consignment. Documents filed for the parcel alleged it contained 43 packages of religious books.
The items were examined by a specialized committee that identified them as rare under a law on manuscripts.
The panel decided to confiscate them for the interest of the National Library and Archives.
