South American music, dance and films will be highlighted at a festival to be held in Qatar next month, organisers have said. The 10-day Latin American Cultural Festival (LACF), at the Cultural Village Foundation in Katara, will bring together over 230 artistes and performers from nine different South American countries and will feature 15 performances and eight films. The cultural show, on October 6-15, will also highlight Latin America's history and art through an array of traditional, folkloric and modern art expressions. "Organising the first Latin American Cultural Festival will be a great feat and we are looking forward to sharing the best of Latin America with our visitors, from Doha and the region," Malika Al Shraim, public relations manager at Katara, said, quoted by Qatar Tribune daily on Tuesday. The first Latin American Cultural Festival has received strong support from the embassies of the participating countries — Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, organisers said. The opening night will feature a music show by Pancho Amat Y Su Cabildo Del Son and Johnny Ventura from Cuba and Dominican Republic respectively.
