"We are now in the 21st century and thus we need to intensify our relation according to the need of the time," says Nepali Prime Minister Baburam Bhattar The Prime Minister made this remark during a meeting with senior Nepalese journalists and a delegation of Chinese journalists in Nepali capital Kathmandu on Thursday evening. "China has made tremendous progress in the past ten years. Therefore, we want to be partners with China in its progress and support each other," said the Prime Minister. He also said that his government is very committed towards supporting China and promoting its progress. The role of media sector is very vital in developing ties between the two countries, the PM said. "The media sector plays the most important role in developing ties between people to people of the two countries." He said that Lumbini, which is the birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha, can play an important role in the exchange of friendly ties between the two countries. "He can be and should be the focal point of friendly exchange between the two countries," said Prime Minister Bhattarai. The Chinese media should play an important role in encouraging Chinese investors to invest in different sectors of Nepal. He suggested that partnership programs between media sectors of the two countries can boost the already existing cordial relations between the two countries.
