Iraq is seeking to restore thousands of artifacts, including pieces stolen from the capital of the Babylonians, which had been stolen by US troops during the American invasion of Iraq.
Hussein al Sharifi, the special rapporteur of the parliament's commission on tourism, told Sputnik Tuesday that about 30,000 pieces had been spirited out of the city of al Hella by US troops in 2003.
The US troops had also stolen an artifact from the city of Mosul, Sharifi added.
He said his country filed many lawsuits in different world countries to restore the artifacts stolen by US troops and Daesh terrorist elements.
