Zekrayat el Medina el Fadila (Memories of Utopia), is a documentary by Najla Rizk on the effects of the Aswan high dam on Nubian community and culture. The film presents one of the most famous Nubian singers and musicians, Fikry Al-Kachef, who in his journey of self-discovery goes from Egypt to Sudan in search of Nubian villages that were never flooded. The 52-minute film is produced by Najla Rizk and Marco Morelli. Rawabet Theater will hold a screening on Thursday, 14 July at 7pm. The director, Nubian historians and poet Mohie Al-Dein Saleh will discuss the movie and the Nubian culture after the screening.from ahramonline.
