If Ukraine halts oil supplies, Slovakia still will have reserves for seven months, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Monday.
Fico said that, if Ukraine halts oil, Slovakia will ensure emergency supplies via the Adria pipeline leading from Croatia through Hungary.
"The capacity of the Adria oil pipeline currently reaches a mere 3 million tonnes per year, but it will be boosted to 6 million tonnes per year after technical modifications are finished in November. This will fully cover Slovakia's needs," added Fico.
Fico held an emergency meeting with Economy Minister Pavol Pavlis and representatives of oil transport company Transpetrol, Slovnaft refinery and the State Material Reserves Administration.
"The primary scenario we discussed was about oil supplies remaining safe at the current level. This however doesn't mean that we aren't prepared for emergency scenarios," stressed Fico.
