Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitally Churkin said that the UN Security Council continues work on the draft statement proposed by Russia to combat buying oil in illegitimate way from the terrorists in Syria which stresses that “any import or export of oil without the permission of the sovereign country is a violation of law.”
In a statement quoted by Itar- Tass on Friday , Churkin considered that there is a real chance to adopt the draft statement, saying “We are working on this,” stressing the necessity of “not supporting terrorism which is considered a main element in the document of the draft statement.”
He pointed out that the draft statement “sends a strong message,” to the countries and warns them not to participate in the bargains which are considered a support to the terrorists’ activities.
Earlier, Russia proposed a draft statement calling for combating the buying of oil in illegal way from the terrorists in Syria.
The draft statement expressed concern over controlling the oil wells by some terrorist groups in Syria.
