The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has started negotiations with the European Investment Bank to rehabilitate Al-Akaidar Landfill in Mafraq, northeast of Amman. According to preliminary studies made by a company tasked by the bank, the cost of rehabilitation of the landfill could stand at $30 million, according to global environmental requirements. Director of Councils at the ministry Hussain Muheidat said that the bank will provide a $0.5 million grant within the $30 million proposed loan to implement the project, adding that all proposals are still under consideration.
