Deputy Managing Director and Board Member of Emirates NBD Egypt Sahar el-Damaty said the bank is currently studying the issuance of saving certificates after the approval of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
In statements to MENA on Monday, Damaty said that after getting the necessary approvals, the bank will issue the savings instruments, noting that the NBD launched a small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) unit a few days ago to help shore up Egypt's national economy.
She further lauded measures taken by CBE to freely float the pound, underlining that strong coordination between the government and the financial and monetary policies is underway.
