Members of the National Constituent Assembly decided, on Saturday, to include in the proposed bill on the provisional organisation of public authorities a provision on the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT). Thus, Article 26 provides in its final provisions for the appointment of the Governor of the BCT after consultation between the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister. This appointment will be effective upon its adoption by the majority of those present among the Constituent Assembly members. The Deputy Governor of the BCT will be appointed by decree publishable after consultation between the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Constitutent Assembly and the Prime Minister on a proposal by the Governor of the BCT. The Executive Board members will be appointed by decree to be published by agreement between the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Constituent Assembly and the Prime Minister. The Governor of the BCT is removed from office according to the same formula adopted during his appointment in the first paragraph of this article or upon request of one third of the Constituent Assembly members. The vice-governor and executive board members are removed according to the same formula adopted in their appointment in paragraphs 2 and 3 of this Article (26).
