The Central Bank of Kuwait said it held a meeting yesterday to discuss Sheikh Salem Abdalaziz Al-Sabah's unexpected resignation as Governor and Board Chairman of the country's monetary authority. The CBK "Board of Directors stresses its respect for Sheikh Salem Abdalaziz Al-Sabah's decision and recognizes his evaluation of his statements, regarding the economic challenges and repercussions on the role of the CBK, as a result, " read the Bank's statement on Wednesday. "At the same time, we (the Central Bank) hope he revises his decision to resign, in order for him to continue his distinguished role in administering the nation's monetary policies." The Central Bank of Kuwait also stressed it would continue to conduct its responsibilities in a regular fashion, without interruption or delay.
