Sudan has signed a loan agreement with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) to set up a 350 MW thermal power plant with a transformer station in Al-Bagair area at $ 200 million.
The station is expected to contribute to the dismantling of bottlenecks in the Al-Bagair area and Soba industrial zone as the area is one of the high load centers of the national network.
The Minister of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity Muataz Musa praised the continuous cooperation of the Arab funds in supporting the infrastructure projects in Sudan in the sectors of dams and electricity, stressing that the state plan is progressing forward to provide electricity to improve the lives of people in all Sudan and push the productive sectors.
The Ministers of Finance and Electricity participated in the meetings of Arab financial institutions in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.
Sudan chaired the meetings of this year.
