The Canon EOS-1DX will finally hit the shops at the end of April, with the new EF 500mm F/4L IS II USM and EF 600mm F/4L IS II USM following in May. When Canon announced the EOS 1DX back in October last year it baffled some of its faithful followers by also stating that the camera would not be available for sale until around March. Today however, the company has announced that the camera, which replaces both the EOS-1D MK IV and EOS-1Ds MKIII, will go on sale from the end of April with an RRP of £5,299.00. Hands on: Canon EOS-1DX review The EOS-1D X is Canon's most advanced EOS camera to date and it features a new 18.1MP full-frame CMOS sensor with a sensitivity range of ISO 100-51200 that can be expanded up to ISO 204800. It also has a redesigned 61-point autofocus system and a 100,000 pixel RGB metering sensor that detects faces and colour to aid exposure measurement. The Canon 1DX is the first camera to feature dual "DIGIC 5+" processors and this enables it to have full-resolution continuous shooting of up to 12fps, or 14fps in the JPEG only super high-speed mode. In addition to stills, the EOS-1D X is capable of recording Full HD (1920x1080p) movies. EOS 1DX lenses Canon's EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM and EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM will be available from May 2012, priced at £8,999.00 and £11,299.00 respectively.
