Amazon.com board member Blake Krikorian confirmed he is resigning from the Seattle retailer's governance body, saying he has "other things cooking." Krikorian, who co-founded Sling Media, which was sold in 2007 for about $380 million, has recently been running a start-up firm id8 Group R2 Studios, which concentrates on home technology, MarketWatch reported Saturday. The Wall Street Journal reported that id8 Group has been in acquisition talks with several major technology firms, including Google Inc., Microsoft Corp. and Apple Inc. The Journal quoted Krikorian as saying, "I've got some other things cooking and it just became time to leave." A regulatory notice filed Friday said Krikorian informed Amazon Dec. 26 he was leaving, but no reason was given for his decision. An Amazon spokesman said Krikorian was leaving because he had sold his current start-up and was taking a position at the company that purchased the firm. Apple, Google and Microsoft had no comment on the matter, the Journal said.
