Samsung has sold more than 20 million units of its popular Galaxy S III in the 100 days since the smartphone went on sale, the company announced Thursday. The announcement came as the South Korean electronics giant fights a worldwide patent lawsuit against Apple, whose fabled iPhone line is threatened by the success of the Galaxy series. The Galaxy S III boasts a 4.8-inch display, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It features an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.9-megapixel front-facing one, and is now, according to the statement, the company’s best-selling phone ever. “The Galaxy S III has enjoyed tremendous attention and popularity since its launch in May, and we are thrilled with its success,” JK Shin, president and head of Samsung’s IT and mobile communications division, said in a statement. “We will never stop providing the latest smart mobile technologies to help users live a life extraordinary.”
