Microsoft has announced an Office Mobile app for Android smartphones, but says it will be available only to Office 365 subscribers. The Android app is free to download but will only work for subscribers to Microsoft's Office 365 Home Premium and ProPlus service, CNET reported Wednesday. "The release of this app shows that we're committed to keep providing additional value for Office 365 subscribers," Guy Gilbert. Microsoft senior product manager, wrote in a blog post. Office Mobile for Android gives users access to Word, Excel and PowerPoint but is not intended for full document, spreadsheet and presentation creation but rather to allow users to make quick changes to files and to share them. The app will sync files with a user's PCs through Microsoft's SkyDrive Web storage service. Microsoft also has an Office Mobile app for Apple iOS devices, which debuted in June. Like the Android app, it only is available to Office 365 subscribers. The Android app requires devices running the 4.0 or higher versions of the operating system.
