Samsung's newest smartphone is in the crosshairs of allegations it infringes on Apple's patents, sources told South Korea's Yonhap news agency. Yonhap said Saturday the Samsung Galaxy S3 is among the latest additions to the roster of Samsung phones and tablets that Apple contends were improperly based on its patents. Apple submitted a revised court filing in U.S. District Court Friday updating the Samsung products it wants banned from store shelves, and included the Galaxy S3, which Yonhap called a flagship of the Korean electronics giant's current product line. Apple's patent-infringement claims were upheld in federal court last month, although a Japanese court rejected a similar claim by Apple Friday. Billions of dollars in royalties may be at stake in the legal wrangling between Apple and Samsung -- and their respective iPhone and Android technologies.
