London - Arabstoday

Android love I have to say I really enjoyed Binary Domain, I finished the campaign last night and I have to say, sure the characters seem like stereotypes and clichéd, but what can I say - the game drew me in so that I did care about some of my team-mates. (Really don't want to spoil the plot.) And it did seem to have more twists and turns than what you'd expect to find in a thriller, sure you review is right about the cover mechanics but I really have to say I fell in love with game and it's great that the game wasn't farmed out to another Western developer because it's unique. A friend told me about the game a few weeks before its release, heard it was by the person behind the Yakuza games, tried the demo and decided to take the plunge... did not regret it at all. I just hope that it sells enough for a sequel. PatlaborAVX0 (gamertag/PSN ID) Add me! GC: We're not sure if you're arguing with our review's conclusion or not, but we agree with yours. Binary decision Which is better, Vanquish or Binary Domain? Considering only the single-player campaigns? If Vanquish then I will dig it out again for another run through and leave Binary Domain for now. I think the only reason I have not played it through more than once is because of that retched repeating boss battle. It wasn't really fun the first time you encounter it, let alone the rest of the times. The best part of Vanquish for me was scaling the giant walking gun. That was epic gaming and lives long in the memory. The Binary Domain graphics look something else. Matt Kirk GC: Did you know they both have the same producer, in Jun Yoshino? We probably prefer Vanquish, but they're not that similar and both are work experiencing. Semi-obscure Thanks for the heads up on Lollipop Chainsaw being released in June in the UK. I thought it wasn't out until September or October. I will be pre-ordering this as soon as then due to its obscure Japanese-ness.  Especially after the Xenoblade Chronicles/Catherine/Last Story debacle! Lollipop Chainsaw is easily my most wanted game of 2012. Love Suda51's work. The man is a genius. A clearly insane genius, but a genius nonetheless! Also, great news on Monolith Soft having a secret 3DS project in the works and also the joint Sega, Capcom and Namco Bandai game will be interesting. Banpresto are fairly successful in Japan it seems. Apparently their Super Robot Wars series has a huge fanbase overseas according to Wikipedia anyway. The Spirit Camera UK release was the icing on the cake. Thanks GC for reigniting my excitement in the 3DS. Like I said in my last email that 3DS didn't have anything exciting coming out, then bam! You get this trio of gaming goodness! I am eating my own words.  Inbox Magic at its best! Big Angry Dad82 (gamertag)/4811-7356-3183 (3DS) GC: Lollipop Chainsaw isn't that obscure. Ex-Troma man James Gunn is writing the script and Warner Bros. are publishing it in the West. Cautious seller Looks like Sony are very concerned about the financial state of both HMV and the GAME Group. I noticed on Wednesday that my Vita memory card packaging had (purchased from HMV) a sticker acting as a seal, stating that it was the property of Sony Computer Entertainment UK Ltd, their address and 'Not to be removed until point of purchase by Consumer'. The same sticker was on the cellophane wrapping of Everybody's Golf that I picked up the following day from GAME. I thought it may be related to the just the Vita, but queue today, after hmv.com letting me down on my Jak And Daxter Trilogy order (stock delay, but the game has even vanished from the site completely, which set alarm bells ringing), I cancelled it and decided to pick it up in town as I had some games I wanted rid of anyway. And lo and behold... that very same sticker is on the cellophane, this time from Gamestation. I know that stock is often provided on credit, but for it to remain property of the supplier till sold? Is that something that happens often or is it something new? I can't blame Sony for wanting to get stock into the shops, yet covering their own bottoms if either HMV or GAME go under. I did text a friend who got hers from Amazon... no 'Property of' sticker on hers. Maybe both companies are in a worse state than publicly known. Plankton1975 (PSN ID) PS: What with the Vita and the games for both it and the PlayStation 3 I've yet to finish, that's my gaming sorted for a while. Journey excepted, I must resist new shiny things for a while now... for both my backlog and bank balance's sake. Wish me luck on that. PPS: Ooooh! A shiny thing! (runs off into the distance after it). GC: Well spotted. The reason for the sticker is exactly as you suggest: to cover themselves if GAME go under. Although we didn't realise that they were being used in HMV as well. We have a feeling buying games on the High Street is going to be very different come Christmas… Keep it to yourself It seems like a day doesn’t go past without us feeling concerned that our consoles/accounts are being hacked but is it any wonder when it seems we are connected to everything in existence at all times? I cannot complete a lap on a racing game nowadays without being told that I should 'Share it on Facebook. Hey, maybe upload it on YouTube! Or even upload it on to the cell chip in my friend's brain so that it is streamed in to his head whilst at work!' I’m all for comparing online scores and such but it seems that whilst I am agreeing to all of these 'terms of service' and watching as my console is connecting to some kind of network that I’m not really sure what’s going on at all… NOZ New answers Long time no write! Was just wondering if I any GCers could recommend some co-op type games on the Xbox 360 for me and my now fiancé. We have played Halo: Reach to death and need to fill the void, doesn’t matter which genre really so long as there is fun and longevity as I see £40 for a game quite hard to part with as just bought a house. MetalGrubb69 (gamertag) PS: I too have been feeling game burnout along with comic book burnout (DCnU!) must be an age thing. GC: We had this question just last week from someone else, but we're sure readers will indulge you again. Lara Croft And The Guardian Of Light, Gears Of War, and Left 4 Dead are amongst the more obvious suggestions though. Never go back RE: OldMiley. I used to be really into the Gran Turismo games too, in a big way, but like Up4Banter, since playing the Forza Motorsport games, I just can't get into the Gran Turismo games anymore. Regarding the handling, without trying to seem patronising, have you tried turning all the assists off? Because when you do, the game's handling is extremely realistic, utilising many physics such as G-Force, weight distribution, tyre pressure/deformation (among many others) that Gran Turismo doesn't seem to be aware even exists. There's far too many reasons I can go into here as to why I believe it's far superior to Gran Turismo, but I'll try to pack most in a succinct way. Far superior career mode, with many and greater variety of events, consistently excellent graphics, far superior artificial intelligence that makes human style mistakes and more exciting racing. When cars connect, it sounds like cars connecting, not like someone kicking a tyre or plastic bin like in Gran Turismo. Rivals mode, ultra deep car tuning and bodywork art design tools. Online auction house, not just for the cars themselves, but for car setups, car vinyls and other things. Ability to download and watch other people's content. I must also mention an unsung feature of Forza, that makes so much difference, but is hardly noticed, which is the game's 'Performance Rating Index' for the cars. It's a rating system that gives cars an exact performance rating and group based on all the cars parts and upgrades, that allows you and others to see a car's performance level. This makes matching up cars and gauging their performance for multiplayer races (in the excellent multiplayer custom lobbies) extremely easy and an absolute dream to use. I don't think it gets enough credit. I soon noticed it absence though when playing Gran Turismo again, believe me. I could go on, but GC would kill me as it's already a long letter. Spartas Edge PS: Saying that, there's more. You do know can turn off/customise the music played in the menus and racing in Gran Turismo 5? Shopping experience Everyone raves about ShopTo.Net but I have bought a few things from them recently and had nothing but trouble with their awful website. I tried to order Binary Domain and it was sitting in my basket but for some reason they have sent out the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection! They are impossible to get hold of over email as they have that awful create ticket system and now I am going to have to return (at my own expense) a game I didn’t even order. I am going to shop from someone else from now on as their website is the most unhelpful and non-user friendly I’ve ever come across Angry Comfort zone RE: stanley71. From my experience Xenoblade Chronicles plays much better with a Classic Controller Plus. The button layout on the Wii remote/nunchuk is fiddly (having to use the -/+, 1/2 buttons) and the normal Classic Controller isn't very comfortable for such a long game. As for The Last Story I've heard the Wii remote/nunchuk works just fine. The SiO (gamertag) Tricky resurrection Agreeing with what most have said about the SSX demo – I’m a longstanding SSX fan (never had a PlayStation 2, so only since Tricky) and I think it’s phenomenal. It runs incredibly smoothly, tricking is a hell of a lot of fun, the music is pretty decent (especially Houdini by Foster the People), the characters aren’t obnoxious, and a ridiculous amount of content. I’ve been waiting such a long time for a next gen SSX, and now it’s arrived, I can finally relax – for years, I thought EA would never resurrect it! And I never had the chance to play it online on my Xbox. Friday the 2nd cannot come quickly enough. Cheers GC! Dom Ellis This week's Hot Topic The subject for this week's Hot Topic was suggested by reader Gadfly, who asks one simple question: which multiplayer game have you spent the most time on in your life? It can be either offline or online, but which game have you spent the most hours playing? How did you first get into the game and what was the initial appeal? What kept you playing instead of moving onto other games, and what do you think makes it superior to other similar titles? How good do you think you are at the game and how important is it for you to win, compared to just enjoying playing it? Do you play with a regular group of friends and are you a member of a clan? If it's an old game does it have a modern equivalent and if so what do you think of it?
